We share
our hearts and homes with Labrador Retrievers because we love this intelligent, affectionate, and incredibly comical
breed. When we do breed a litter, the careful screening we have done of our own dogs ensures that we produce exceptional puppies
that will benefit the breed.
We breed only a couple of litters each
year but obviously cannot keep every puppy from these litter litters, as those superior puppies who are worthy
of continuing our lines with only come along once in awhile. The majority of our puppies are sold as pets and are placed into
loving homes. Because of this we keenly aware of the importance of breeding for superior health and temperament
- not just great looks.
We are not a commercial kennel with puppies available on demand; our puppy
families are carefully screened and then placed onto a waiting list until a puppy becomes available for them. This ensures
that our puppies are only going to homes that have carefully thought out and planned for the new addition to their family
and who are willing to wait for a quality, well-bred puppy. Although we do our very best to seek out only the most loving
and stable homes, we feel that the puppies will ultimately remain our responsibility for their entire lives and so we will
always be available to assist their families in any way that we can... even if that means welcoming the dog back into our
own family or finding another suitable home for it in the event that its family can no longer care for it.
We
have limited the number of dogs in our family to an amount that allows us to devote our time, love, and attention to each
and every one of them. The health and happiness of our dogs is a priority and they spend their days where they are most comfortable.
The couch potatoes usually relax in the house, more active dogs spend their days chasing birds and bugs in large play-yards,
and younger dogs play happily in the doggy playroom or backyard. But ALL of the dogs love to splash around in Bridge Creek
whenever they get a chance and we are very fortunate to have this creek running through the back of our property.
We believe strongly in annual eye examinations which are performed
by a board certified canine ophthalmologist and the results are registered with CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation).
The Sires of our litters are also Optigen tested for the gene that causes PRA before being used in our breeding program.
All dogs have their hips and elbows xrayed and these xrays are forwarded to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) for
grading and certification before breeding. Bridge Creek puppies are sold with a written guarantee of good health and genetic
soundness as well as a two year written warranty on hips, elbows, and eyes.
Although it is a rewarding and enjoyable
experience to raise a healthy litter of puppies, it can also be a phenomenal investment of time and energy and at times can
become overwhelmingly exhausting. It is however a responsibility that we take very seriously and so we always ensure that
one of us is at home full-time throughout the entire eight weeks that the puppies are with us. Our puppies are raised
with an abundance of toys, blankets, quality food, fresh water, and an impeccably clean nursery area. Weather
permitting; they will also be given frequent outside play-times, where they can enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.
All of our puppies are deeply loved and well socialized
before going to their new homes. Every litter is born in our family room and exposed to a variety of household sounds,
environments, and experiences in preparation for the new lives they will have with their waiting families. Raising a
healthy, well-adjusted litter is imperative to us and we spend countless hours cleaning up after, playing with and cuddling
the puppies every day, ensuring that each puppy leaves us in exceptional health, with a loving and affectionate personality,
and very well bonded to people.
Please be advised that
not all prospective purchasers live up to our high standards for pet ownership. Puppies will be sold to Approved Homes only.
