Why Bridge Creek?

We try to plan a litter every year or two in the hopes of producing a superior puppy who will be worthy of continuing our lines with. Since those very special puppies only come along once in awhile, the majority of our puppies are placed into loving and thoroughly screened companion homes. Occasionally, an exceptional puppy will be placed with people who have an interest or experience showing dogs in conformation events... however it is always a priority that the puppies are family member first and foremost. Because of this, we are keenly aware of the importance of breeding for superior health and temperament - not just great looks!

We are not a commercial kennel with puppies available on demand; we breed only one litter every few years... sometimes going several years between litters. Our litters are carefully planned and each potential puppy family is screened and approved before a reservation is made. This ensures that our puppies are only going to homes that have carefully thought out and planned for the addition of a quality, well-bred puppy to their family. Although we do our very best to seek out only the most loving and stable homes, we feel a sense of responsibilty for each Bridge Creek dog throughout its entire life and will always be available to assist them in any way that we can... even if that means welcoming the dog back into our own family or finding another suitable home for it in the event that its family can no longer care for it.

Raising Labradors is a hobby for us (not a business) and as such, we have limited the number of dogs in our family to an amount that allows us to devote our time, love, and attention to each and every one of them. The health and happiness of our dogs is a priority and they spend their days where they are most comfortable. The couch potatoes can usually be found relaxing in the house or sunning themselves on the back deck, more active dogs spend their days chasing birds and bugs in large, fenced play-yards, and younger dogs play happily in the doggy playroom, the sundeck, or the backyard. ALL of the dogs love to splash around in Bridge Creek though whenever they get a chance and we all feel very fortunate to have this beautiful creek running through the back of our property.

We believe strongly in regular eye examinations which are performed by a board certified canine ophthalmologist and the results are registered with CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation). The Sires of our litters are also DNA tested and cleared for the gene that causes PRA before being used in our Breeding Program. All dogs have their hips and elbows xrayed and these xrays are forwarded to OFA )Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) for grading and certification before breeding. Bridge Creek puppies are sold with a written guarantee of good health and genetic soundness as well as a three year written warranty on hips, elbows, and eyes.

All Bridge Creek litters are born and raised in our home with an abundance of toys, blankets, high quality food, fresh water, and an impeccably clean nursery area. Weather permitting; they will also be given frequent outside play-times when they are older so that they can enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Our litters are carefully planned, highly anticipated, and born into the most nurturing environment possible. Each puppy is deeply loved and socialized before going to its new home. We believe it is important to raise puppies in an environment where they can be exposed to a variety of household sights, sounds, and experiences in preparation for the new lives they will have with their waiting families. Everything possible is done to ensure that we raise healthy, well-adjusted litters and that each puppy leaves us in exceptional health, with a loving and affectionate personality, and very well bonded to people.
